Dear Cindy:
I am writing to compliment you on the use of metric units in the article you published a week ago. There you listed the elevation of the locales in metres, and metres only (no conversion to feet, or yards, etc.).
 
I believe that this country would be better yet had it adopted the metric system. Your stating data in metric only is helping our readers to obtain feel for the metric units. I believe that lack of that feel is the only reason why (most) Americans are reluctant to adopt metric. Your not providing an alternate alongside is the best way to help us "think metric."
