Football in the UK is what you call Soccer.
So we already have a game involving yards but with very different rules -eg,
the foot is used a lot as would the name of the sport suggest ;-)
We call what you call "Football" as "American Football".
Channel 4 used to show it on the odd evening but apart from that it really
gets very little airtime. None of the "main channels" show it, or report
results from it.
Rugby is a popular "hand-ball" type sport here, and that is done mainly in
metric.

Subject: [USMA:37440] NFL to export "yards" to Mexico, Canada, and Europe?
Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2006 20:10:57 -0400
See today's news attachment. Canada already know about yards, of course.
I suppose Mexico does too.
Did the NFL give up on its European League which was tried the last year or
so?
Could it be that Europe might reject even the regular NFL teams with their
obsolete yards?
