Thank you Linda.
I believe most people know that Daniel Jackson is actually John P Schweisthal, a well known anti-American from Ohio who has used the metric debate in his hope of some form of bizzare dollar collapse rendering the USA a third world style country. He has been banned from the USMA site as his various alter egos which include euric, kilopascal, ametrica, erin gobragh amongst others. You can search on those names via google to see his "footprint".

I am not anti-metric, I am pro-choice. Never have I said I am anti-metric. In fact I have made it known that my objection to dual signage in the UK is similar to my objection to imperial measures on medicine, for example - and that I use millimetres over 1/32ths for small measures. Hardly "anti-metric" in practice. I enjoy most of the debates here and rarely get involved, preferring to just read and maybe comment on posts related to my own country - not really a desperate attempt to "say imperial words". I also note that there is a breadth of opinion. However I also realise that Daniel is the best thing an "anti-metic" could ask for and as such has never been banned from any of the BWMA boards. On those boards he regularly informs us that anyone who likes imperial measures are stupid, unemployed, fat, ugly, poor, peasants, unproffessional, American, etc. He also constantly reminds us of the imminent dollar collapse (for which he has been praying for in his 50 yrs on earth) and how awful the UK economy is because "we don't use the euro". The lies he spreads about the UK are just hilarious and not worth arguing over. Apparently there are "metric survey markers" all over the UK!!

As "Daniel" he has been banned from this site - quite rightly too, because as someone who is NOT anti-metric I can see the damage such an individual can do to that cause. In fact I am surprised that no millitant anti-metric group has used his actions and words. If I was anti-metic I would be encouraging this forum to "un ban" him.

So do not worry, Linda, to be insulted by "Daniel" is an honour.

I am also not put off by his sinister side - that is, trying to find out my passwords, trying to locate where I live in the UK (unsuccesfully), conspiring with who he thinks are "on his side" to mount an offensive attack on me or my wife, trying to discover who my employer is in order to put my job in jeapardy.

This, folks, is the "hidden" side of "Daniel" (John P Schwiesthal) that I have tended to keep quiet about. Nice chap eh? Well what would you expect from someone who actually thinks that the topic of measures is, in reality, a declaration of war (and the reason behind, and started with, the Iraq attack - because of metric oil and saddam adopting the euro - makes sense, huh?).

Considering his delusion about "war" and his eagerness to find out where I live I am still careful with any post (mail) I receive at home - should it be from America. I've heard stories about twisted individuals out there and the lengths they will go to so you cannot take anything for granted.

I note, however, that "Daniel" has started posting here "via the back door". Fortunately those efforts have been generally ignored (I mean, how many people here are really interested in oil and the EU economy, etc?).

So thanks again, Linda, for emailing this to me (publicly) and thanks again "Daniel" for showing yourself up once again.

Should anyone want to know more details about "Daniel" feel free to email me personally, or email me if you really are that interested in my view on "anti-metric", "pro-metric", "anti/pro-imperial" etc etc. Otherwise the best practice would be to take "Daniel"s point of view and reverse it - that usually gives a more honest reflection.

Cheers
SteveH

P.S. Yes, you *have* made my day JPS! ;-)

I find it disturbing that Mr. Humpherys was not on the list of recipients of the following, so he could have an opportunity to respond to it. He was not even included in the form of a courtesy copy.

Stephen Humphreys did not post so he could offer some intelligence to what you were saying, but only to say something imperial.  I'll bet he would never post something using a metric reference as an example.

He is an admitted anti-metric.  You are better off if you ignore him.

So if you have 500 mL of a 5.5% beer, you would have consumed 2.75 units of
alcohol (half of 5.5).
If on the other hand you had consumed 568 mL of of a 5.5% beer - where is my
calculator?
