(Not to single out the Dutch for abuse, but it happens I worked long ago for the US branch of a Dutch company. A man from the Head Office was visiting one week, and among many other things he complained that the USA was not using the metric system. "Everyone else in the civilized world is using the metric system," he said, "while you're still using the archaic feet and miles." A female colleague took umbrage at this observation, and replied, "Do you know why the distance to the Moon is measured in miles? It's because Americans went there and measured it!" She was not too popular with the Head Office after that.) The fact is the distance to the moon was never measured in miles. Always in kilometres. http://www.fourmilab.ch/earthview/moon_ap_per.html From this site you can get the distance for any date and time. http://www.jgiesen.de/moondistance/index.htm Even Werner von Braun, the father of NASA never used FFU. He HATED it. He did everything in metric. NASA began falling apart after von Braun retired, most likely because the followers didn't continue to do the calculations in metric until forced to in the '90s. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We won't tell.
