I aqrrived in Belfast yeaterday by coach. In the past, when crossing the border
from Ireland to British NI there used to be checkpoints, heavily armed soldiers
and policewmetn and armoured cars. Now there is just a sign saying the speeds
are measured in miles per hour in Northern Ireland. Yet metric lives here as
well; I saw a butchers' shop where wverything was priced in kilograms this
morning.
