Hello all:

Just sent this email to the Versus network. I may come across a bit
aggressive and harsh, but I've politely requested a change in previous years
with no results. It's sad how hard you have to bang your head on the wall
over adding a simple letter to a graphic. Anyway, here it is:

I very much enjoy your Tour de France coverage, which I've been following
for many years, even before the TDF became popular in the United States.
Nonetheless, one small detail that has troubled me for all these years has
been the symbol for kilometers you choose to display onscreen. "k" is merely
a prefix meaning nothing more than 1000; the correct symbol for kilometers
(or kilometres if you prefer) is km. Even if everybody understands what you
mean by the use of "k," it appears amateurish and ignorant and truly
detracts from your otherwise excellent coverage. To someone such as myself
who grew up with the metric system and sitll prefers to use it over US
customary units, it even feels a bit disrespecful. I know I've alerted you
about this error in previous years and hope you will finally find a way to
correct it in future broadcasts.

Sincerely,

Walter Meier
