I have this friend in Montreal. One winter he went to visit relatives in
Edmonton, Alberta, and told me what happened. Their wives/S.O.'s were in the
living room, and the guys in the kitchen. On the kitchen table was a case of
Labatt Bleue Superfort, 8.1%. The back door of the kitchen opened to a small
porch overlooking the back yard. The activity of the evening is listed below,
viz.

1. Drink beer.
2. Fill pitcher with water from the sink.
3. Take pitcher out onto porch.
4. Throw the water into the air. The temperature is -40 and it freezes
instantly.
5. Listen to the lovely broken-glass sound as the ice falls to the ground.
6. Laugh.
7. Go back into the kitchen.
8. Repeat steps 1-7 as long as desired.
9. Wives come into kitchen, feeling the cold. "What the hell are you guys
doing?"

Remember, this is in the land where "winter" and "builds character" are often
in the same sentence.

My experience? With me, it's |40|.

That is, +40 in May of 2000 (Midland, TX) Baked auto upholstery
Earlier, -40 in December 1980 (Houlton, ME) Stiff auto upholstery

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice . . .
