This subject, of the possibility of Canada, the U.S., and Mexico forming 
a political union with a common currency is really heating up the 
Internet, but is somehow being hermetically isolated from the 
"mainstream" media (is this why we are getting a steady diet of 
sensational crime and sex stories completely dominating TV news coverage 
over the past several years?).  There may be some implications for U.S. 
metrication in this, but, speaking for myself, I would not want this to 
be the price we have to pay to get the common-sense measurement system 
we seek.
