I have been drawing surveys for over five years and am taking surveying and
engineering classes. Last time a surveying question came up, I was the one
who answered, so if there isn't an actual surveyor, ask me.

I asked the instructor to get some metric tapes and level rods. No result yet.
The book has enough metric that he could teach all in metric if he wanted to,
except of course when one has to refer to a deed or plat written in feet or
chains. He knows a fair bit of the metric system, but he thinks in feet, and
talking about Hooke's law (for correcting a measurement for pull) in pounds
sounds weird.

One of the students' demonstrations was about the Gunter's chain. One chain is
just over 20 m and is divided in 100 links. Has anyone made a metric chain
which is 20.000 m instead of 20.1168 m?
