Thanks for sharing this letter with us. I find it a bit surprising that a state 
like New York hasn't got there yet.
Hopefully, now that they have a Democratic governor and (I believe) a 
Democratic legislature, the atmosphere in Albany is more progressive and open 
to adopting this kind of measure.

I'm just curious about the status of the UPLR once New York and Alabama adopt 
the metric-only labelling option.  Are Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, 
Guam, and the Trust Territories of the Pacific and American Samoa already 
covered? If not, what is the mechanism to extend the metric-only option of the 
UPLR to those jurisdictions?
