I was listening to Rachel Maddow on her show on Air America and was pleasantly 
surprised to hear her talk about the optical illusion of the full (or nearly 
full) moon looking much larger near the horizon than higher in the sky. During 
her description she used "kilometers" to describe distance.

What a nice surprise. Perhaps it didn't hurt that she did her Ph.D. at Oxford 
on a Rhodes scholarship!  :-)
