Two interesting items:
Nature's Path cold cereal, from Blaine, Washington state, seems to now
offer some of its cereal in 400 and 350 g boxes. Right next to these
are other of their boxes with other cereals in uneven oz. (and uneven g)
sizes. But I am not sure which is the newer, and if this marks any kind
of a trend.
I was shopping at an auto parts store for a wrench for removing a large
diesel fuel filter, around 10 cm diameter. The packages of filter
wrenches marketed by Napa (North American Parts Assn) all are marked
with inch size ranges in inches and oddball inch increments in as small
as 1/16 (or maybe even 1/32) inches, with easy to understand mm
following in parenthesis, such as "xx and 7/8 to yy and 13/16 inches
(87-95 mm)". Even dumber was the fact that the software supporting the
wrenches seems to be the same, or worse. I couldn't find the size I
needed, so the clerk looked at the available sizes on his computer
screen and mentioned that there were sizes of "4.02" (possibly "4.2")
inches. Weird.
