I wrote the above and typed the word "not" in two places. The double negative was incorrect and not intended. The simplest correction to the sentence would be to omit th phrase "it is not true that" near the beginning. Thus, it would read (omitting the parenthetical comment):
"Clearly, a specified wavelength ... does not correspond to a specific frequency for all waves."
