Stan & all:
I attempted to UNIFY counting systems used 'differently' among
Asian-Eropean_American countries - using multiples & sub-multiples of 10^5.
This remained with the discussion list for some time and died its natural way.
The proposal had been first put in print in my book: Towards A Unified
Technology (1982). Please see: http://www.brijvij.com/IndoEuropean_UDN.doc

The average person living in any of the traditionally metric courtiers is
blissfully ignorant of the measuring system. (I know, I was - when I lived
there.) The attached distance-scaling video is understandable in any language
but only SI experts will notice the discrepancies between the powers of 10 and
the notations underneath.
