Dear All,
This item has been doing the rounds of web blogs all around the world
but mostly in the UK. One example, attributed to John Cleese, can be
found at:
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=514883
I was alerted to this line:
7. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will
start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time,
you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of
conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you
understand the British sense of humour.
Although I didn't find this whole piece particularly funny, I did
liked the oblique reference to the idea that the UK has already 'gone
metric'.
Cheers,
Pat Naughtin
