There seems to be an interesting political situation developing here in the U.S. A consortium of universities, industry association, and a number of other organizations (USMA included) is supporting a presidential candidates' debate on the future of science and technology in the U.S. The event will take place at the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 18 April, just four days before the Pennsylvania primary. Organizers have said that the debate will be held if even one of the candidates attends, but all three camps have been invited. It will be interesting to see which of the candidates wants to debate such issues as:
--U.S. economic competitiveness and support for scientific research --healthcare --energy --science education --transportation infrastructure --pandemic diseases ...and much more.
