Firstly, Airbus is a pan-European enterprise. The aircraft wings are made
in the UK and the assembly plant is in France.

In the UK, engineering is entirely metric except where the public is
directly concerned. Thus, in UK law, the dimensions of road signs are
defined in metric units, but the quantities that they display are in
imperial units - "A very British Mess". (See
http://www.ukma.org.uk/books/index.htm).

My understanding was that everything coming out of Airbus was fully
metricated, particularly since it is based in France and other EU member
states that are fully metric.

I know there is a significant number of parts made in the UK, but I did
not believe those parts were on the inch standard. Please correct me if
I'm wrong.
