I disagree. The SI is based on the decimal system, and units are multiplied like algebraic symbols. Students should be introduced to measurement arithmetic as soon as they can do decimal arithmetic, which is a lot easier than doing arithmetic in bases 12, 10, and 16 all at once. Pierre
