This got me to wondering if anyone has information on what the Irish have done in the area of signs that restrict length, height and width.
Height restriction signs are in dual units (meters & feet/inches). This was in effect before the changeover of speed signs, and is still the practice now. I believe this is because low heights are more common than very narrow widths, and bridge strikes can be quite costly. Width restrictions (such as narrow lanes in road works) are in metric only.
Most of the height signs I've seen the UK are also dual units (I believe they are the only dual units on official signs there). Can't remember seeing width signs there.
