Interesting conversation back and forth with a web site selling Fans, best read from the bottom up, On their web site it listed innovation so I suggested they include metric units as an innoviation. I recently had a back and forth with Casablanca Fans and actually sent a fan back to them as defective because it lacked metric in the installation instructions. That got their attention, they stated they would look into including metric units on all their literature and web site (I suggested millimeters). I'll forward the letter to the List once I see it happen on their web site. In the interim they generated a pdf installation with meter dimensions and emailed it to me. Surprisingly they include only inch instructions for Fans sold in Canada, called them as well to get a copy of their instrucitons.

It appears sending stuff back as defective due to lack of metric dimensions in the installation instructions works. I cite Federal law in the "Metric is the Preffered system" as the justification.

In the meantime feel free to also request metric units, nothing like increasing the drip rate! I always use the Contact us email address on the web site.

Points taken.

The time has long passed when US companies should be including metric units on their web sites, in their literature and in their installation instructions. No one should have to get out a calculator, the metric system is the preferred system for US trade and commerce which is what I do when I buy anything. I get metric with my John Deere, with any vehicle I purchase (even US vehicles are designed in millimeters and have metric bolts), with my Refrigerator, etc.etc.

I'm looking for 3 modern white ceiling fans, none of the information I need in term of dimensions is on your web site, if I go into Home Depot or Lowe's it's on the box, so what do you want me to do when I look at Fans? Get on the phone and call you for the millimeter size?

What I'm saying is you folks need to get with it and include this information (as well as inches) on your web site. Even if I called and got the size I need, is the information included in installation instructions? If not I'll be returning it at your cost. A better option at the moment for me is to get something at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Millimeters are a better option than centimeters, because it is a whole numbers no decimal point. Anyone looking at the number can see instantly how many centimeters or meters an object is. ( see: http://www.martecceilingfans.com.au/met533wh_product_page )

I'm sorry. Maybe I don't understand the nature of your inquirey. Is there a specific model for which you would like mm measurements? I can give those to you. Our European catalog (currently in design) will reflect all measurements in cm, (mm/10), but it's an abbreviated catalog. If I know which model(s) you're considering, I can make the calculations for you.

Thank you,

I'm not after accuracy, I'm after the nominal dimensions, call it giving the customer what they want, I'm not interested in inches.

Dear Mr. Payne...

Our diagrams and measurements are not accurate to the mm. We generally round to the nearest inch. If there is a specific measurement that you need for a specific model (or multiple measurements / models), please give me a call or include in a reply to this email. I will do my best to provide you with that information.

Thank you and regards,

An innovation you should consider is adding millimeters to your dimensional data. I'd buy 3 of your fans but I need metric information.
