I have read this interaction 3 times now in full, and I am utterly amazed and perplexed by the owner's response.

This line in particular, "those aren't metric dollars. They are standard American dollars."

Since when does currency reflect a measuring system?! I'm tempted to write him and ask if uses standard American electricity instead of that unAmerican stuff measured in kilowatts!

People here in America don't like it when they get told that the US *isn't* the center of the universe, and I think that put him on the defensive, sad to say.

Best read from the bottom up to follow the flow. This person is certainly receptive, it might take a year of thinking about it, but I think he might include metric units at some stage.
