I read the whole thing, Nat. Fascinating. I'm a bit of an amateur philologist, with Brazilian Portuguese (BP) being one of the languages I find interesting, so I had no incentive to start in the middle. I didn't just augment my paltry BP knowledge; I multiplied it. That said, I can read most BP text with a passable degree of comprehension. Having a background in French and Latin (in addition to German), and familiarity with Italian and Spanish forms, makes that process a little easier than it would otherwise be. (And I do know that obrigado is BP for gracias.) More to the point (your point), though, the article deals very well with the idiocy of all the Fred Flintstone units. Bill _____
