Dear All,
Could you check this calculation for me please? It doesn't look right.
6 000 000 joules รท 16 kJ/day = 375 days
This calculation is based on these ideas.
The energy content of a barrel of oil is about 6 megajoules (Cost
about 140 $/barrel).
A man working hard (heavy activity) uses food energy at a rate of 16
kJ/day (Cost about 110 $/day basic wage rate in Australia).
So one barrel of oil is the equivalent of one man working hard for 375
days, which is 75 weeks, or full time for about a year and a half.
Oil energy cost: $140
Human energy cost: $41 250
Cheers,
