Thirty-nine years ago tonight, I was being a bad boy.

At age 17, I was working as a nurse assistant at a Boston-area hospital, and my
charge nurse asked me to check on a patient's restraints. I refused to go. I
was watching coverage of the only time in human history that a person would
FIRST arrive at a place other than earth. I guess the powers that be did
understand; I kept my job.

Neil Armstrong's simple lunar declaration of a "giant leap" in the evolution of
humanity reminds us today of our potential for greatness as a species, if only
we continue to think of building instead of destroying. And, The U.S. space
program stands as a reminder that our technology CAN be second to none, if we
choose it to be. Metrication will surely help.
