We are always good at finding/provideing ways: How NOT to 'think metric' and
still claim we are in the process! Hard conversion to metric shall lead us to
UTTER confusion, unless 'hard conversion' is inevitable/absolutely necessary.
A minor waste of trimmed paper, put in recycle fabrication/re-production is
likely to be gainful rather considering: What A Waste?
Ther was an early discussion on A4 paper size: resizing to 25mm x 32mm or even
25mm x 30mm finished paper could be used, and promoted!Brij Bhushan Vij (MJD

Dear Pat:
Thanks for writing. That article is indeed very old, and was moved from the
ancient IBM 8088 thru various makes of computers and word-processors over the
decades. I should re-send it in the pdf file, as some suggested. Or reset the
margins as you wrote.

You and this forum readers will be please to hear that The Harford Courant
decided to publish the letter. So it may educate far broader audience than I
had envisioned. This energy vs. power distinction is blurred to most Americans,
engineers included. And either of the words has dozens of meanings not related
to thermodynamics on top of it.

Now hear this: I had made a use of your reference to Australian metric
cookbook. My son and his wife moved to Sydney a week ago - just in time for me
to forward your reference. However, it seems cooking is the least of their
problems at this very beginning. But they were grateful anyway.

Dear Stan,

Thanks for reposting your article on energy and exercise. I recall reading it
and enjoying it some time ago and I have just enjoyed re-reading it now.

As you wrote this some time ago, I noticed that it was before you chose to use
your own page set-up and used the default Microsoft set-up in inches.

Might I suggest that you read the article Page borders inches or millimetres
and reconsider how you set your own default page. This two page article
explores the cost of your simple decision about the size of the margins that
you (and other people) choose for your computer paper printout. You will find
it at http://www.metricationmatters.com/docs/PageBordersInchesORmillimetres.pdf
