The webcomic xkcd, a favorite among the geeky and nerdy types, has a comic about the metric system.
It says "the key to converting to metric is establishing new reference points" and it gives you a bunch of them for temperature, mass, length, volume, and speed. I won't spoil you with what those are so go take a look for a laugh.
