Dear All,
I just came across this story at http://www.madetostick.com/blog/2007/10/23/tammy-is-a-quitter
where it introduced me to Kurt Lewin's 'Force Field Analysis'.
I immediately thought that this could have relevance in designing a
metrication program to upgrade a group (or an industry or a nation) to
the full use of the metric system.
Given that thought, I then explored further to find references to
several academic studies and to management descriptions like this http://www.accel-team.com/techniques/force_field_analysis.html
I would be pleased to hear any thoughts on whether you think that
these ideas are relevant to metrication, and if so, what do you think
are the main driving forces pushing towards metrication change and
what are the restraining forces acting against metrication change.
I will compile your thoughts into some sort of digest and return your
own thoughts back to you with the thoughts of others.
Cheers,
Pat Naughtin
