Dear USMA Listserver Subscribers, The U.S. Metric Association has operated this mailing list since 1997. I think we can call it the world's leading organ for continuous live discussion of U.S. transition to the metric system. Among its subscribers is America's Metric Coordinator, Ms. Elizabeth Gentry of the NIST Laws and Metric Group, and it might therefore be said that we have earned the respect, as well as the supervision, of people in high places. The level of dialogue on this list has always been high. We cover issues from education to public relations to some of the most arcane topics in metrology.
Therefore, it is disruptive to our purpose to tolerate personal attacks here. Such communications excite personal animosities, and this kind of energy tends to divert us away from our main topic, that of how (or, according to some, if at all) the U.S. will go metric. Please do not post these personal issues to the list; rather, address them to the individual(s) involved. Better yet, consider whether or not how such communications affect your argument or your credibility. Thank you very much for your assistance and cooperation. Let's talk about metric! SI-incerely, -- Paul Trusten, R.Ph.
