I believe this may be due to the fact that different parts of the business are regulated by different government entities. Drug manufacturing is regulated by the US FDA and the EU EMEA. This part of the business is strictly a metric shop. Workplace safety and ergonomics (such as specifying how much can be lifted) is regulated by OSHA, which I don't think specifies it's rules in metric.
