The original directive states
"The indication expressed in a unit of measurement listed in Chapter I shall
predominate. In particular, the indications expressed in units of
measurement not listed in Chapter I shall be expressed in characters no
larger than those of the corresponding indication in units listed in Chapter
I.".

John,

The ITA Press Release fails to recognize the distinction between *Primary
Indications* in SI (still *required* by EU Directive 80-181) even as relaxed
to merely permit "supplementary indications" in other (non-metric) units
after 2010 January 1.

The ITA Press Release would have the reader believe that SI and non-SI
indications are of *equal acceptability* in the EU after 2010 January 1.
That is a false impression that needs to be corrected.

Han and I are searching the actual wordings of the Laws of EU Member States
to see the degree of distinction that each States makes on this matter.

Gene.
