Dear Brian:

The draft Management Directive on units of measurement has been brought to my
attention.

As a veteran of ten years service at NASA-MSFC, and author of NASA SP-7012,
before joining the faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
where I did upper atmosphere research with NASA sounding rockets, I remain, as
a retiree, a firm advocate of SI for all NASA future activities.

NASA can enjoy the full benefits of efficient cooperation with the several
other space exploring nations of this world only if NASA continues on its path
toward full implementation of SI in all aspects of space exploration; hardware
and data.

NASA policy requires SI. Exceptions must be increasingly rare. Please do what
you can to reject efforts to deviate from SI. Reject non-SI units from the 19th
Century.
