I have gotten permission from my company to form a USMA chapter.
When I read James's email about forming a USMA chapter, I recalled
several (many?) years ago having looked into that possibility.
Although I never got anything up and going, I did get (and kept)
copies of two USMA documents regarding the setting up of chapters.
You probably can get these from USMA headquarters but I have them
handy, in (electronic form) and would be happy to send them to anyone
interested.
If anyone pursues these documents further, you may want to look into
the question of whether they have been modified. My copies are dated
2004, which is the year I received them; they are older than that.
The two documents are:
"Guidelines for USMA Chapters",
(the official USMA "rules" for organizing a Chapter)
and
"Random Ideas that might help in starting a U.S. Metric Association
Chapter"
(consisting of an informal list of hints and suggestions for
successfully organizing and running a Chapter)
