Many people (and most journalists are people) use the word "power" to mean electricity, regardless of whether the topic under discussion is the amount of energy or the rate of use (the power). I cite such terms as "the power company", "power plant", "power bill", "the area has lost power". In each of these cases, people often mean electricity, regardless of whether it means how MUCH electricity (electrical energy) or the RATE of delivery of the electricity (the electric power).

I am not defending this practice,(I abhor it), just noting that it is prevalent and we must deal with it.
