You're a Mrs T fan? You must be REALLY popular in Wales. :-)
But seriously, the first paragraph in the post I'm replying to reveals she
sorted nothing out in the metric sense....she just added to the problem.

Are there still Aussies and Brits who need convincing too?
Yes for the UK too. The Margaret Thatcher legacy when she 'saved the
pint and the mile for Britain' have been an obvious disaster for honesty of
measurement in the UK. The constant presence of these two old legal measuring
words, pint and mile, have had the effect of assuring the UK public that it is
morally OK to apply old pre-metric measuring words to many aspects of life in
the UK. As you know the two words (pint and mile) are about the only legally
defined old measuring words left in the the UK – and both of these have a
metric definition – it's quite odd really.
>> If an ounces or pound figure on a product is clearly wrong then
the trades description rules come to the fore.
>> Similarly mpg need to be accurate.
>> I've personally never worked out this 'pint and mile' thing as
what happens to what I mention above plus yards, feet, inches etc?
>>
>> Also - terms like 'disaster' when relating to your text above I
think is a bit too far-fetched - I cannot think of anyone who uses dishonesty
regarding a word for a measurement. or-conversely- anyone who has been a victim
of that. I think 99% or so traders probably want a good reputation - esp in
times of recession. But that's merely an observation.
>> If you want to do a poster I believe it should be short, snappy
and have some form of humour to it. I wouldn't dwell on cooking too much as I
believe there's probably far better areas than that.
P.S. I was (and still am) A Mrs T fan - just wish she could sort out
the current mess (not measures) ;-)
