When I print something on the wrong size paper, it comes out misaligned, as
if 
one corner of the two sizes of paper were held fixed and the opposite corner

were moved. What happens if you print to a file, use Ghostscript to look at 
the resulting PostScript file, and print it? What program are you printing 
the documents in?
