Actually, this article makes clearer than the first article is that all they 
did was to propose eliminating a bureaucracy that hasn't met in over 20 years.  
It is not clear that they were giving effective metrication advice even in the 
early 80's, certainly not since.  No need to "worship" the name of a stunningly 
ineffective committee.

The US needs a solid plan to promote metrication on an other-than-voluntary 
basis, but useless groups like this don't matter either way.  Even if there 
were a solid plan, I wouldn't count on this useless group to implement it.
