This is a copy of the email I sent just now to the author of a report in QST, pertinent to my recent posting. The address list included some of the "powers that be" in QST and ARRL.

Dear ...,

I read your fascinating report on your mod to a 2 m antenna to add 70 cm
band coverage in the July issue, just received.

You have my personal thanks for providing not only an excellent hint to
the rest of us, but also for doing so intelligently. Your report used
metric units and no others.

I have never understood why ARRL has persisted in reporting antenna
designs in feet and inches for coverage in bands that are designated in
meters! After all, we use metric units for everything else -- e.g.,
volt, ohm, henry, ampere, farad, etc. It's refreshing to see a cleanly
presented antenna design and report a modern unit of measure that is
consistent with the others we use in amateur radio.
