Most of the proposed FPLA amendment is what we have seen before. However, there is a new section described a new coordination and education role for NIST and the Secretary of Commerce to assist with permissive metric-only labeling. It looks good to me, but I urge everybody to read the link.

One is an interesting survey of things in the marketplace current labeled in metric only (not sure they all fall under UPLR. A few appear to fall under FPLA and would be non-compliant). However, their point is that consumers are buying and not complaining about metric-only labels. Of course, none of this can happen until Congress modifies the FPLA.
