Mass is independent of gravity.

The main use of these measurements is a better measure of the geoid, the 
equipotential field of gravity that defines mean sea level (even where there is 
no sea) for altitude measurements.

It also makes me wonder if being able to measure gravity this finely could be 
part of a redefinition of the kilogram to replace the current physical artifact.
Or am I totally off base?
