Have a look at the following webpage, where the ferry Barfleur from Britanny
Ferries is up for sale:
http://commercial.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=138012

Almost everything is in metric. The knot and the nautical mile remain of course
and fuel consumption is in 'kg/mile', but I am certain that the mile is the
nautical version. I have no objection in this very special case. If it was
kg/statute mile, it would be an entirely different story.
I found it on the website bfenthousiasts, forums, where it was discussed on
page one, I posted this comment on page three:
"I am certain that the 'mile' used in the unit 'kg/mile' is the nautical mile,
not the statute one. It would be absurd to measure speeds in knots , distances
in nautical miles, but fuel consumption of ships in kg/statute mile. And I
regard the kg/statute mile, if it really exists, as a monstrosity."
