The Sunday New York Times of November 14. 2010 featured an article entitled Earth's Future in Glacial Ice by Justine Gullis from Tashlaq, Greenland.
It began on page 1 and concluded on page 15 with a map of Greenland including various charts and tables. One such table was for the Helheim Glacier on Greenland's east coast showing water temperatures for the fall of 2008. Of course, he used Fahrenheit with calibrations of 32º, 33 3/4º, 35 1/2º, 37 1/2º, and 39 1/4º. I've certainly never seen someone use calibrations of degrees for temperatures in halves and fourths. I'm quite certain that scientists would have measured these in ºC. Obviously when one works back the true measures in ºC would undoubtedly have been 0 ºC, 1 ºC, 2 ºC, 3 ºC, and 4 ºC. Norman Werling
