*Urgent - call your Senators. The budget is being discussed in every senate
office on the hill.*
*
*
*If you live in Iowa, call Senator Harkin. He is the Chairman of the **
Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education subcommittee of the
Appropriations Committee.
**Please call Sen Harkins' office at 1-202-224-3254 to let him know that
we can not cut STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) funding
programs in our K-12 schools. STEM funding cuts should not be part of cuts
in budget proposed by Senate. Cutting STEM programs would be like cutting
the future of our nation off at the knees - for a generation. *
*
*
*I have also called every congressman in my state to find out if they
supported the House version (HR1) provisions which did cut STEM program
funding in our schools. I let them know that their support for those cuts
would be made public, and that their actions on that specific aspect of the
budget process seriously diminishes the future success of our children in a
world where the only real advantage any nation can have is in knowledge,
science and technology. Six of Alabama's seven congressman voted to cut
STEM funding. *

*
*Call all your Senators. You can get their phone numbers at

*
*Thanks!*
