The SI unit for absorbed radiation is the sievert. I have not heard anyone reporting levels in rems. Our federal government codifies its radiation regulations in 10 CFR 20 (Code of Federal Regulations).

This now uses SI units as well as non-SI units.

I have had significant experience in naval nuclear reactor plants (I was the Chief Engineer for one of those) and so I have written a couple of emails for the edification of my siblings and friends. I'll post copies of those right after I send this.
