Below is the text of my letter to Congressional Rep. Bartlett, as suggested by Tim Williamson. Thanks for the info and the suggestion, Tim.
============================ Contact Congressman Bartlett 2412 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20515-2006 Rep. Bartlett: Thank you very much for your support of metrication in the US at your recent meeting of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee. Your suggestion that the country is losing money by NOT fully adopting the SI metric system is very true and important. Metrication, done right, is a short term, easily adopted process with long lasting benefits to the country and the people. The 96% of the world’s population that use the metric system can’t be wrong. We lose foreign trade and domestic jobs by manufacturing products that do not conform with the measurements used by the rest of the world. Please continue your support of US metrication as required by the laws passed by Congress to designate the SI metric system as the preferred system of weights and measures in the US, and the executive orders from the first President Bush directing federal agencies to follow that law. ============================ Regards, Bill Hooper Fernandina Beach, Florida, USA ========================== Make It Simple; Make It Metric! ==========================
