The National Science and Technology's Subcommittee on Standards (and NIST) has recently posted a review of nearly 100 comments from industrial associations, on the Standards Setting process .
One of many observations: "The bottoms-up approach has left ... a policy vacuum." True! SI is only *preferred* for US Trade and Commerce, with little enforcement.
