We hate to criticize people who are at least trying to use metric, but
sometimes the way they do it is so foolish as to be funny (as well as annoying).
The instructions were nicely done in metric until they got down to the
"1/2- to 3/4-inch, fluted, shallow, crème brûlée molds"
There's not even a hint of a suggestion that those
molds might be 12 mm to 20 mm deep.
Then there is the instruction to bake
"at 300°F (149°C) for approximately 35 to 40 minutes, or
until they are softly set and the centers jiggle slightly."
The Fahrenheit temperature was unfortunately given primacy with Celsius
secondary (in parentheses).
Even worse is the idiotic rounding of the Celsius temperature
to 149 ˚C instead of to a more reasonably rounded 150 ˚C.
The rounding should be done even if the baking process needs to be precise.
However, the baking instructions are NOT precise, in that they allow a time
range of "35 to 40 minutes" (a variation of 13% to 14%). Therefore surely a
rounding of the temperature by one degree Celsius is not going to be a problem.
After all, we also have the VERY PRECISE TIME measure of "until they are set
and the centers jiggle slightly"! That's so stupid it's hilarious.
