At the archery competitition today, I was delighted to note that in the bottom right corner of the screen, the speed of the arrows was given in "m/s" (only), ranging from about 2 to 5. I didn't hear the commentator mention the speed.

On a subsequent news promo for the Mars probe landing coming in a few days, naturally Fox/CNN were giving distances in miles (only). As an amateur astronomer from way back, I am particularly troubled that no effort is given by the media to use metric units for this now all-metric science.
