In my travels and writings relative to changing the U.S. over to the metric system of measurement, I have tried to be careful to exclude all connections to partisan politics, and have urged others to use the same approach. All Americans measure things, and all will benefit over time from the switch to the everyday standard of the SI. By bringing the discussion of this national goal to the entire political spectrum, we will be more likely to win the wide support so vital to its enactment into practice and to its success in a field of over 300 million people.
