Eugene: I'm sorry you felt so badly about the story. I don't understand why you feel the story had a negative tone. Nearly all of the feedback I've received has been positive, including some comments from people who said the story has made them want to start using the metric system in their own lives.
I will keep monitoring any progress on U.S. industries, government, etc. going metric. Feel free to keep me posted. Thanks- Justin ________________________________________ From: mechtly, eugene a [[email protected]] Sent: Monday, November 26, 2012 12:24 PM To: Scheck, Justin Cc: U.S. Metric Accociation Subject: Scheck Article in WSJ of November 23rd Dear Justin, I downloaded and printed your article published in the Wall Street Journal of November 23rd. Unfortunately, your article follows the example of many commentaries on SI in the public media. Did Wall Street Journal editors set the negative tone for your article, ridicule and opposition to SI? I challenge you and the Wall Street Journal to publish a comprehensive list of US industries and professions which have adopted SI, often in response to international markets and standard practices worldwide. The public will follow in another generation or two, nudged forward by STEM education. Eugene A. Mechtly, Ph.D. Emeritus, College of Engineering University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
