Unfortunately such logic is used by politicians as rhetoric to keep people from 
seeing reality.  When I was a student, the Apartheid Government in South Africa 
justified many of its actions to prevent “Kommunist and Liberalist influences 
from corrupting our nation”. The absence of the internet made this line much 
easier.
